Hello all. I am trying to set up 2 e-mail accounts with outlook and am having trouble doing this. Could someone please help?
One e-mail account I have is strictly for friends, and the other one is more for school and very impersonal. However, when I set it up, it puts all my mail together in my inbox and when I send mail, I have to make sure I go into tools and change the e-mail address that I'm sending from to be the default one. lol Am I making any sense?
Also, if I want to send mail from the other e-mail address, I have to go back and change it to the default account again.
Is there a way to completely separate the accounts so that I can just log in to the one I want to use?
Thanks muchly in advance!
Michelle
First off, when sending an email all you have to do is shift tab to the from combo box and down aro to the address you want to send it from.'
However, the option you're looking for is add a new identity.
You can do this by hitting alt f from the main inbox window and aroing down to identity's.
Hit right aro and hit enter on create new identity.
Then it will ask you for all the stuff it asks when you set up an email account.
After that when you open outlook express when you want to switch email accounts you hit alt f and go to switch identies.
Be sure to delete one of the eail accounts in the main identity and reset it in the new one.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Aww Thank you so much for replying to this. You might think me really dense but I don't see a from dialogue box like the one you mentioned. If it is that easy to change the accounts, I'd like to keep it that way instead of creating a new identity. However, when I looked, I didn't see the identity option in the file menu either. lol Isn't that strange?
When I want to send a message, I hit controll N. and it brings me to the "to..." edit field. I then shift tab and get "CC button" and again to the "to button." I figured out that I can select my contacts by hitting those buttons and then tabbing to the ok button. But if I shift tab again, it brings me back to the message body edit field and so on.
I don't know if it's an option that I have to change but I'm really stumped. And like I said before, I couldn't even find the Identity option after pressing alt-F, nor was it in any other menus. Do you have any idea of what could be wrong with my outlook?
Very confussled:
Michelle
Darn, I wish I could tell you how to do this. Someone walked me through making sure I have the "from" option above the "to" line, but now I don't remember how we set it up. I am like you in that I like to give one e-mail address to friends and use the other one for impersonal stuff such as when dealing with businesses I have ordered products from. I'm sure someone with experience using outlook can help you. It is much easier than going through the process you have to use.
are you using outlook, or outlook express.
If you are using outlook then that may be why and in that case4 We will have to find someone who is familiar with outlook.
If it's outlook express, then my question is what screen reader do you use.
Oh I'm using outlook. But I thought I saw a from dialogue box before in outlook but just don't understand why I don't see one now. lol And I am using jaws for a screenreader.
Still confussled:

Hi Michelle.
I should put this in the rave board cause microsoft office help sucks the big one: (but, here's what I finally found):
"Specify which e-mail account to use to send a message
If you have set up multiple
e-mail accounts
in Microsoft Outlook, you can specify which account to use when sending a message.
List of 2 items
1. In the message, click Accounts.
2. Click the account you want to use.
list end
Notes
List of 1 items
• By default, e-mail is sent by using the account specified as the default in the E-Mail Accounts Wizard (Tools, E-mail Accounts command). For example,
your default account may be your work e-mail account, but you can specify to send a message from another e-mail account, such as your personal
Internet service provider (ISP)
account.
list end
List of 1 items
• Sending messages from your ISP account may require you to be connected to that provider in order to receive permission to use the e-mail server. Contact
your network administrator or ISP for more information.
list end"
So, I started a mythical message and there is indeed an account button there with a submenu on it. I found it with the jaws cursor but I also found it by pressing the alt key to bring up the menus then the tab keys to get to toolbars that might be present. (You might have to press tab two or three times to bring up the right toolbar, depending on what you have specified in your views.).
Oh yes, one thing of interest was that a hotmail account was possible which is not the case in outlook express.
Hope this helps.
